Marina Del Rey is beautiful and safe. It is very expensive to live there, so there is really no hooligans, so you will be in a safe area. Tell your mother to Google Marina Del Rey and she can see for herself that it is very nice, with the Marina's full with expensive yatchs and boats. It is by Santa Monica which is also a safe town.
